Girl Scout
Gold Award

Lucy Snaith, a committed Girl Scout, earned a Gold Award for her project, "A Tribute to Dad," focused on raising awareness about glioblastomas (GBMs). Spanning from January 10, 2024, to September 15, 2024, the initiative reflected over 100 hours of dedication as she entered her senior year of high school.

The primary goal was to increase public awareness about GBM for the benefit of patients, families, and caregivers. The project focused on the rapid progression and limited treatment options for GBM, presenting significant challenges to those affected.

Lucy collaborated with a diverse team of friends, family, and professionals to deliver the following:

50+ Patient Care Packages were procured, assembled, and delivered to esteemed institutions such as Duke University, Vanderbilt University, Emory University, the Piedmont Brain Tumor Center, and the Cleveland Clinic. 

GBM Care Package

Each package included supportive materials like encouraging pamphlets, brain activity books, aphasia flashcards, hand mobility devices, and cozy ski hats. This initiative was made possible through the generous contributions of our community, showcasing the collaborative spirit in providing support to those coping with brain tumors.

​500+ encouragement pamphlets were crafted, produced, and distributed to brain tumor clinics in Georgia, various locations across the U.S., and institutions in the U.K., including Oxford University and NHS Saint Thomas' Hospital.

​​​​The Chris Snaith Foundation website was launched to raise awareness about glioblastoma (GBM), provide resources for patients and families, and facilitate donations and volunteer opportunities.

The project received significant support from Dr. Paul Miller of Ludwig Cancer Research at Nuffield Department of Medicine at University of Oxford, who provided valuable insights and guidance.

Overall, the project raised awareness and provided educational materials on GBM, fostering a supportive community for those impacted. Lucy's dedication not only honored her father but also laid the groundwork for continued advocacy and education in brain tumor awareness.
